The Inside Scoop~

Every Idea Has a Beginning

Welcome and thank you for being the leader/manager you already are! To those of you consciously striving for ways to increase your team’s overall performance, THIS is your newsletter. What I offer is 22+ years of listening to the concerns of employees at all levels and continuously looking for ways to improve the working environment.

What should you expect from this newsletter?

It is intended to introduce and generate ideas that help you bring people together

Q: How many pages will the newsletter be in the future?

A: The newsletter will remain a single page until you the reader requests more.

Q: Why so short?

A: Although I realize that my target audience is a purveyor of information and constantly looking for ways to improve the work climate, I also recognize that time is a limited resource and readers are more likely to want ‘bite sized’ pieces of information.

“We have two lives, and the second begins when we realize we only have one.” Confucius

Acknowledging mentors and the lesson(s) learned

In 1997, (Ret.) CMSgt. Bridget Fronita Rencher (formerly Batiste) was the first female supervisor I ever had.

Initially I unintentionally blocked the lessons that she was teaching.

The most important lesson I learned was to let go of my ‘ego’ and establish fertile brain space to absorb the skills she imparted.

“When the student is ready the teacher will appear.” Chinese Proverb

About: Acknowledging Mentors and Lessons Learned

I joined the Airforce in 1987 as Security Forces member. In 1997, after 10 years in a male dominated career field, I changed jobs from Security Forces to Equal Opportunity. The new job presented new challenges including working for my first female supervisor (see above). Ultimately by overcoming those challenges I was able to learn from one of the best supervisors of my professional career.

Q: What is going on with the picture(s)?

A: These are pictures taken by me during my morning walks, or my travels around my home here on Maui.
